just bought one for my little brother (yes, im nice like that) just wondering how long it could last... without me adding a new fan or adding a watercooling kit

i am talking about how long you could play on it straight without an error. i know the new halo 3 console has the new falcon chipset, i dont have a fan yet for it but thinking of getting one. my brother is a real avid gamer and loves halo 3 and gears of war, he threw his old 360 out of the window due to him being pwned on xbox live,

thanks

Ayame, i live for you xxx even though the sight may fade the feelings shall always remain

Ayame, i owe you my life but thats all i have to give to you as you already have my love and my heart

forever yours Joe xxxxx

im going to laugh when he throws this one out of the window when he gets his butt kicked again. lol. but as for your question, ive heard of some that have allready broke, and some that are still running strong, so i think its just the luck of the draw as it has been all along.

Why did you buy him a new one if he destroyed his old 360? That was pretty stupid on both your parts. You can still play games offline if you get banned. He should have bought his own 360 since he was a little baby and got mad and broke his other one. What happens when he gets banned on this new one? Go for another one? Give me a break.

umm....he didnt say anything about getting banned on live, he said his brother got 'owned' meaning he got his @$$ kicked by some 13 year old with no life. thats what lead to the throwing of the xbox.

even the new consoles having problems? my brothers only 11 lol. he keeps
killing all the noobs, its funny listening to all the abuse he gets.

just ordered a nyko intercooler from ebay. gonna test it using a reverse power supply cable to see how poor the connection is, as i dont want by brother killed on his new 360. thorough testing is the best way.

from what i heard its the top right hand pin in the cooler that has the poorest connection.

anyone got any guides on how to bolt down the 360 to the floor as i dont want this one out of the window lol, also a guide for the LCD tv, dont want that going either

forget that, just bolt down him lol

well if you got the new version of the nyko you shouldnt have a problem with it as they fixed the issues from the first models.

lol dude, u're a good brother buying him a new 360 after he broke his lol. Maybe spend some money on getting him anger management.

So are the new Nyko intercoolers safe? Microsoft reps all say to put a fan behind it and thats the best thing u can use.

as long as you get a version 2, they are fine to use.

I would still be weary of using that thing after it messed up so many 360s before, big chance you would take.

Here is something from engadget.com about the intercooler, I wouldn't trust this piece of garbage whatever version it is. I bought a recharge battery from them and it didn't work and their customer service wouldn't ever pick up or call back, freaking scam company.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/27/nyko-...x-360-consoles/

We've seen our fair share of products that aren't exactly "as advertised," but it seems that Nyko's Intercooler might actually up the stakes by accomplishing the complete opposite of what it's intended to do. While the Xbox 360 has experienced a good bit of "technical difficulties" in its short life, the Intercooler accessory was hailed as a product that nixed the seemingly widespread overheating issues; however, new reports are suggesting that the device "steals too much power" from the oh-so-needy innards of Microsoft's console, leading to eventual failure of the components. It was noted that the Intercooler can even elicit "brown discoloration" around the system's AC input before users are faced with the ominous red ring, and if this tale-tell sign is witnessed by RMA processors, your return becomes null and void for using an "unlicensed peripheral." Although Nyko respectfully defends its questionably useful product, Microsoft doesn't appear to lend the same appreciation -- but regardless, there's still a few (unofficial) methods left to ensure your Xbox 360 stays below the boiling point, cool?

my friend has the core edition 360 and he cut down the nyko intercooler
plastic around the pins just a little bit so he could push it in further, he's had no problem's what so ever...

do microsoft test their hardware before they release it, try to push the limits of the 360 and then under clock to see which is the best performance. or did they just skip the hardware testing and push it out for the release date set. same with nyko, they should test their hardware first

damn money grabbers! GRR!!

I bought a notebook cooler for $12 and use that and it really cools it off too. Microsoft explicitly says they will not cover damage caused by the intercooler, just too big a risk and Nyko is horrible service. They will just say "tough S" if you're 360 gets F-ed up by the intercooler.

Dude, trust me, you can't get a hold of anyone at Nyko, you just get an answering machine and they never call back.
