Help my Gamecube controller wont work on my Wii please help!!

Hi sold my gamecube months ago and kept all the resident evil games for it because I knew they would work on my Wii. I only just got around to playing them gamecube games on my Wii. I plugged mt logic 3 GameCube controller (3rd party) into port 1 on my Wii then put the GameCube game in and booted it up. The game works fine but the controller wont work for some reason I know the controller is ok. Anyone got any ideas on how to get it working as I really want to play my resident evil games.

maybe it got damaged in the interim - ones i bought off ebay just worked straight away
i would try find someone with a gamecube to verify its working still

I have a friend next door has an old gamecube and tried it on that and it worked am just going to buy a new one now anyhow thanks for the help.
