irc timeout ?

evening all. managed to figure out the basic's of using irc, thanks to Darthnip's excellent guide. Set it away last night to download a file off it , accepted it and away it went. However, when i checked the progress this morning, it had disconnected due to 'ping timeout'. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please ?

ping timout is like when you've been connected for ages and havent really done anything, lol thats it very basically. As for the file transfer, are you sure it didnt fully transfer??

Don't think it's all downloaded, Dela, not in 58 minutes ? it was a 1.5G file in .tar format. It's showing in downloads folder as 15,384kb.

What now then Dela ? Will i be able to resume the download where it dropped off, or should i start it again ? Also, will Winrar open files of this type ? Cheers mate.
