I have recently been thinking about the ultimate console mod and I would appreciate feedback on what I think would be the coolest mod ever. I have a modded ps2, modded xbox, and modded gamecube and am very happy with them but would prefer one nice neat package which could play any of the games for all three. I would be willing to sacrifice my systems to create a combination system and I have some ideas on how to do it, but I'm a noob so I am throwing out the challenge to all.
If a person where to purchase an lg 8163b drive it is possible it could recognize all of the game discs and be linked to each mobo. If only one mobo is powered up at a time (via a simple switch) the video and audio out could also be run out through a single set of component wires. The controllers ports could be connected through ps2 to gamecube/xbox converters and split to send a constant signal to all ports (maybe even build in a multitap for 4 player ps2) and you would only need two memory card slots- gamecube, ps2. This could all be linked to a computer via usb for awesome possibilities.
Now I know there are probably many holes in this, but someone who could pull this off would be immortalized as the ultimate modder. So what do you say modders?
I know exactly how to do this. I'll give you all the steps and they are really easy to follow. 1. get wire cutters/knife, tape/glue, card board box. 2. cut 3 holes in the box. one for the ps2 tray, the xbox tray and the gamecube tray. **warning** gamecube must be stacked on top of the three systems. the xbox would be on the bottom, then the ps2 and then the gamecube. 3. Glue the all of the stacked systems together, so they don't fall! 4. place the box with the holes over the three systems and there you go!
hehe. Okay you got me. Well the point is to only have one drive, 4 controller ports and usb to a computer or hard drive for backups. It could be called the gen7 or something and be built in a media center pc case, or even better be built into a media center pc.
