hey guys,
i posted earlier that some of my backups worked and some didnt and it was suggested to me that i need to get verbatim double layer discs and not use memorex. so i did just that, i switched to verbatim, took a copy of my game and added the ss, pfi and dmi files. i did a stealth check to see if they were all included within the ISO and they were. when i put it on the verbatim it didnt work just as my other backup of the same game didnt work on a memorex. my 360 came up with the screen that said "To Play this disc put it in an xbox 360 console." however some of my games do work with memorex media. I recently got my firmware upgraded to iXtreme firmware 1.2 RevC for TS-H943. before this upgrad all of my games worked great. could there have been a problem with the backing up process or the firmware upgrade? and if it is the firmware upgrade why would it only affect some games and not all? By the way, i am crrently using wxripper to get the iso file, ss merger to inject the ss file, and XBC to inject the pfi and dmi files. i do a stealth check with XBC and it says that everything checks out ok. if anyone has any idea as to what could be happening or why my xbox will only play some games and not others i would really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot

Ok, a few questions
1. Did you stealth check the file before patching it to make sure the ss, DMI, & PFI needed to be patched?
2. Did you make this copy yourself from an original disc (if so how) or did you get it from "other sources"?
3. What program did you use to burn them, what is the max speed of the DVD you use, and what speed did you burn at?
I have heard other people have this problem but it can really come from a lot of things. One could be that the newer firmware reads games at a different speed then the old one did. It surely could be the media you use because Memorex (aka Memosux) is about the worst brand out there. It could be the laser but if they all worked before the update i would say it is more likely to be the meddia or read speed of the new firmware. It could of course also be that you are not correctly making the copies.

no i didnt check to see if it needed these files for two reasons.
1. I dont know how to do that
2. It needed them before my update so i assumed it still needed them
I did make this copy myself but i didnt use the original. i used my burnt disc to put the iso onto my computer then i added the pfi dmi and ss files
I use IMG burn to burn the backups and i just click the max button under write speed but the discs are 2.4x
Like i said before, the thing that really throws me off is that i have used the same burning technique on all of my discs and the same media and some work and some dont. its weird. now even verbatim isnt working.

Ok, well if the original disc you were copying (backup) already had the stealth files and worked then you do not need to inject them again. You can check the ISO by using DVDmulleter which is freeware.
All you need to do if you want to back up a working copy (not original disc) is to make and ISO and burn it to another disc.
Personally i have found that Nero 7 works perfectly. Just use the disc copy option. And if the max disc speed you have is only 2.4X then you should set IMGburn to 2.4X or even 1X and not max.

what i did was put the iso on my hard drive the same way i would if i were making a copy of the original with wxripper. and i do have dvdmulleter but i dont know where to go or how to tell what patches are needed which ones aren't. the reason why i injected the dmi pfi and ss files for a second time was because right after i put it on my hard drive i did a stealth check with XBC and it said that all of those things were missing. one last thing... my SAMSUNG SH-D162C KREON V 1.0 DVD-ROM DRIVE is on its way here. should i just forget about using the old method of doing my backups and wait for this thing to get here? also, do you guys think this will resolve my problems with the backups that dont work? for example, instead of trying to burn my backups with wxripper do you think burning with this new drive will make a big difference?

when you are making a copy of an original disc then yes, you need to use the WXripper method and inject those files. But if you already have a backup that works (and already has those files) then all you need to do is make a copy of the disc like you would any other type of disc. It does not need to be ripped again.
In DVDmulleter you open the program, chose the load ISO from either file or from disc, depending on which you want to check for stealth, and then you just press next. It will show you the stealth check.
The Kreon drive will work GREAT for backing up original discs, they will be easier to do and no patching will be needed again as they will all be stealth. But it has nothing at all to do with making a second copy of a game that you already backed up.

yep sounds like its a file problem and not media. if you could find a good thread dedictated to all that injecting and stealthing an image or just start a new one.

sounds like a good plan, if it did not work on either disc then something is wrong. Start over when you get your drive and back up the original disc. Then you will see how easy it is and 98-100% of the time the game will work when using good media.
