anyway as i progressed through the walkthrough i came across something i didnt understand as shown in the picture below i cudnt find the 'NAT Rule.'

i then thought to myself ill try complete the rest of the walkthrough which i did. i dint get any error messeges but whn i played on my xbox the 'lag' seemed to be exactly the same. the game i played was gears of war because i know tht wud be a good game to test becasue of the lag it gives out.

it wud be much appreciated if somebody could help me out im starting to get really stresssed with it lol.

could somebody also let me know how i would be able to tell if i have succesfully opened ports what or how would i tell on my xobx ?

thanks alot

Your ports are open. Blocked ports would not allow ANY traffic through, the lag will be either your slow internet connection or bad cabling within your home!

Try these steps...

Power off your router, leave for 30 secs, turn back on.

Where your modem connects to your phone line at the wall, ensure that this cable is no longer then 2m. You can then have up to 100m of the blue Cat 5 cable to connect to your computer.

Ensure that your Cat 5 cable connections are good and solid...

Eg.

Good (Tight clean connection)

Bad (Loose cables, doesn't look right...)

as you can see in the picture the male ethernet cable end is a 568A termination which means the wire order starts with White/Green and Green. Usually all computers are set up for 568B's which starts with White/Orange and Orange make sure your ethernet cable are 568B because if they are 568A then you will only get half the infomation and usually you can get error's because you arnt gertting all the infomation.
