PS1 game not working right

Hello,

The game I'm trying to get to work is Brave Fencer Musashi. I've put both the keys.bin and eboot in the appropriate folder and got the game working no problem. What I'm having problems with is that the screen keeps going black and also the text boxes above the characters head appear, but no text is inside of them. I played through the first minute or so of the game this morning and it worked fine except for the text boxes above the heads, but when I came to the next area of the game where you enter a tower I believe it just went black and stayed like that. It's not freezing the PSP I don't think because I'm still able to press the home button and quit out of the game, the problem is it just keeps going black and staying like that. After I restarted the game again it started up fine but again the screen went black after the start menu this time.

I guess I should say I'm using a PSP slim with 3.71 m33-3 firmware. Does this mean I'm already using popsloader or do I have to set it in the recovery menu and try using this to get rid of these black screen, no text problems? What else could be causing the problems?

Thanks that worked great. Just having a bit of a problem now where the game is a bit laggy whereas it wasn't before when I wasn't using the popsloader. I went into the CPU speed menu and there's two options I see, Speed in XMB and Speed in UMD/ISO, I set the Speed in UMD/ISO to 333, but it didn't speed the game up at all, still a bit laggy when there's multiple enemies on the screen. I've tried all the different versions of the pops and they're all the same.

Is there anyway to get this to stop?
