I bought FUJI 50-Pack 2x DVD-R Spindle for $99.99. About 6-7 months ago.Now I need to buy another batch.

@ Bestbuy where I bought FUJI media
The FUJI 50-Pack 1x DVD-R Spindle for $99.99, and FUJI 100-Pack 4x DVD-R Spindle for $189.99.

I thought that was ok.
But after some reading I found out that ppl prefere Ritek over any other media.

@ Meritline Ritek goes for
Ritek G04 50-Pack 4x DVD-R for $57.00, Ritek G04 50-Pack 4x DVD-R for $108.00

Witch one is better.I mean in compatability?

Are FUJI media some of the highest quality media out there?Thats why they sale @ 2 times as much.OR is Ritek a underdog in the world of over-growned Companies that just want to make more $$$ for the same or less than the quality of Ritek.

I say buy whatever works for your DVD burner and standalone DVD player. I've had no problems with the Fuji, and Best Buy usually puts them on sale at 25-pack for $30. Right now, you can get the 25-pk Memorex 4x at Best Buy for $30 with rebate. I believe both Fuji and Memorex are made by Ricoh.

Hi Matador, Many of the brand name media are made by Ritek. Memorex is one of them. I switched to Ritek because that seemed to be the peoples choice on this forum. Haven't made a coaster since.Go to www.dvdrhelp.com. I think there is a cross reference section there on media. Ricoh is Ritek(same) Jerry

I took a look at that web site. And most of the brands are Ricoh and some are Ritek G03 but with a different label.

Kind of weird.......... huh

Matador, Seems to be only 3 or 4 actual manufacturers of dvd media. Then everyone buys from them and puts their name on the disc. You would never know if it wasn't for these forums. Jerry

Memorex DVD-R media is CMC, uber crap...
Fuji DVD-R can be Ritek or Taiyo Yuden...
Ricoh is only for +R media...
And by the way, there are over 30 manufacturers of DVD media.

Hi OAKside24, Not sure how many actual manufacturers of dvd media there are. I never listed them. Only about 5 I consider ok. Just for your info Ricoh is the same as Ritek. These are also mostly Ricoh --Imation--Fujifilm--Ridata--Verbatim--Memorex. But like I said before, these companies can buy from anyone. So this list may not always be true. And it could change between -media and +media. When one of the better companies put their name on a disc, the want it to work. Jerry

Forgot to mention I don't do Game discs. But heard that one of the machines(either xbox or PS2) needs a chip modification before the copies will work. Check the game forum on here at the home page. It should help you. Jerry

Keep in mind that discs coming from the same manufacturer aren't necessarily all equal. For example I believe that TDK has very high standards for quality and will only accept discs within its specs. The ones outside TDK's specs might end up being sold to some no name company at a discount price. I've seen this kind of situation play out with various kinds of manufactured goods.
