I have a PS2 into which my brother installed a HD and put all my games onto it. I have since had a few of the actual discs get damaged to the point of not working and would like to create a backup of the backup if that makes sense! As my brother is now in Mongolia(!), I am lost.
I am wondering if it would be possible to backup the games from my PS2 HD onto an external HD that I keep for backing up pics, music, videos, etc. Or would the external have to be formatted for PS2? If the answer is yes, would it be possible to format part of the HD for the PS2 games, and still keep the rest available for pics, etc?
you can save the games onto a external hdd, only if you still have the iso. because once a hdd is formatted into ps2 format, the computer will not recognize it without winhiip.
iso is an image of a disc. you get one when you rip a cd/dvd to your computer and save it.
if you don't have the iso on your computer anymore, you will need to connect the ps2 hdd to your computer (directly on the ide cable or with a usb hdd enclosure) and you will have to download winhiip. with winhiip, it makes the ps2 hdd visible to the computer, but it only recognizes the games that are on it. you will be able to copy the games to your computer, and then transfer it to your external hdd for safe keeping.
Thank you very much for the info. Just to be clear, I won't have to do anything else to the external HDD? I can just transfer the games from the PS2 HD to the external?
Just another question close to this topic...If you have a 250 gb hardrive...can you make a partition with just ps2 games and another partition for your normal computer stuff?? Will the slim pick this partition up??and how many back up copies can you put on the on partition?
