How to remove hdl patch??

I have an iso of a ps2 game "starwars battlefront 2". It is already hdl patched. It has a readme that says:
****This is a patched version for HDL. Will work perfecttly with HDL.
Just load into your HD using your fav HD loading program.
When loading to HD make sure you select DVD and make bootfile "SWBFRNT2.ELF"
and enable Mode 3.
No need to patch.*****

My prob is that i dont want to use hdl. I dont have a hdd. I want to burn it on a dvd and play the normal way. (my ps2 is modded)
I tried burning it as is but it dint work. the ps2 browser opened and recognised a ps2 disc but when i select it, it doesnt load. nothing happens.
plz help!!
