downloading game saves

I recently downloaded some game saves off of gamefaqs, but they show as corrupted data on my stick when i go to load them...

someone once told me it has to do with the region the save is vs. the game itself. how can i tell this off of an iso? (meaning the game part)
I usually get (U) versions....

also, I have one for Castlevania - Dracula Chronicles, and that one I cant even get to load, since i have to choose a profile first, the save aint even there...

any thoughts?
