I have a few videos from my friend. I want to convert it into AVI files. I tried a couple of free software yesterday, but they were no good and their output was horrible. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

if they are unprotected dvds then I woul recommend this


Convert the vobs to an mpeg 2 with this

Then create an xvid avi with vitualdub mod which you can find here

definately try xilisoft video coverter. however, the trial only lets you convert the first 5 mins of each file
