I noticed on my Grand Turismo 4 that there is an option, when going to Video Options as: 480i, and 1080p video settings. I have a HDTV, but when i connect the PS2 to it, and put the HD setting its says no signal. Is there any such thing as a HD cable for PS2, or any kind of modification i have to do.

there is no 1080p on gt4. it's 480i, 480p, or 1080i. 1080p is blu-ray.

you would need to use the component cables (r/g/b) to get 480p working. standard composites don't work.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd

got a whole lot more to list . . .

component cables are the highest the ps2 can handle. you should be able to do 1080i with the standard cables; it's only progressive scan that needs components, if you want 480p.

See, i have a HDTV 31" and i just connect it with standard Cable, but when switched to 1080i resolution it displays no signal. I read on another thread about hdloader. Does this have anything to do with what im saying?

does your 31" HDTV support 1080i?
also when you use Standeard cables there will be no signal cause,
they are standard cables! you need component cables and need to change
Video mode from RGB to yb/pb/pr something...

:/

About 3 years ago I picked up component and optical audio cables for my ps2 and hooked it up to my 1080i tv. The video really isn't that great, it was just deeper richer colors, but the sound was pretty cool (gta vice city in surround, bullets and explosions from all around you).

I know that vice city never had a 1080i option so I can't say for sure how much better it would look. I can only assume the ps2 wouldn't really be powerful enough to display a true 1080i image, probably more like an upconvert player. In any case I would stick with composite or s-video and think about an optical audio cable if you have a 5.1 surround sound system or better.

Yes it does support 1080i. The PS2 can support 480p and other stuff, but what is this hdloader thing? What do you need for it?(You need a HD, but what else?)

hdloader runs ps2 games off a hdd; very fast loading times, only few games don't run. you need the network adapter, a IDE hdd, and some form of hdloader.

are you confusing HDLoader's HD for High-Defination? its HardDisk Loader nothing to do with HDTV and component.
Just do what I said earlier and it should work fine.
Make sure you get Component cables and not composite.
this is how they look...
