I am running Linex on the ps3 and i have a formatted external hard drive for this system but it will only let me extract files smaller then 4gb on to it can anyone please help me as the files I wish to extract are larger than that I have already Partitioned the 320gb hard drive in to 14gb sections am I doing things right?

you're not doing anything wrong, fat32 wont allow files bigger then 4gb period.
although i don't see why you need 23 separate partitions on your HD, or how you even made 23 partitions.
