I guarantee you that your backup or some of them have some glitches or chapters jumps, black screen etc. half of the times. However, the choice is yours. I can wait 10 - 12 minutes for VobBlanker to "process" and rather have a real (successfully or true) backup without any glitches, chapters jumping, black screen, etc.

Ripping and backing up is my passion, so I enjoy taking my times to get it done right. Again, the choice is yours.

You're welcome mate. Glad I could help and now enjoy all your backups. It is good to hear/know that you're getting better with both VobBlanker and PgcEdit. Yes, these 2 free tools are great, possibly the greatest free tool ever besides DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and DVDFAB Decrypter. My advise to you is keep messing around with them and you'll be an advanced user on both VobBlanker & PgcEdit eventually.

Best of lucks and happy burning!!

@mojo

Nah... I have never ran into any issues at all regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS. So far, VobBlanker has never let me down -- it has been 100% success for me.

In addendum to the movie/title you're talking about, I have no clue to what it is. So I really have no comment on that part. However, I'm sure the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 with VobBlanker should be able to handle it easily. Maybe you just got a bad pressed that's all. Try to exchange it for a new one and see if you'll get a success. Or you can try "DVD Decrypter + PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS" method in bold under my sig as well.

Good luck!!

Sorry, once I had installed the PSL 2.14 Plug-In, FixVTS showed up as well. I haven't tried these yet but am wondering if "The Sword of Zorro" can be backed up using your method -- DVDFAB Decrypter, VobBlanker,DVDShrink/NERO Recode 2 combo? I would appreciate your comment.

@PWANJO

You mean the latest "LEGEND OF ZORRO"? I've never heard of "The Sword of Zorro". It should work with my "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" method. Just make sure you have the latest version from DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 to rip the movie into your hard drive, afterward, just process the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker as usual. Then do as the following:

<> open up VobBlanker 2.1.0.0
<> for "INPUT" browse to hard drive, selected the VIDEO_TS.IFO file that you ripped with DVDFAB Decrypter earlier and Open it
<> for "OUTPUT" create or make a new folder name BLANKER ZORRO and a sub-folder call VIDEO_TS inside BLANKER ZORRO
<> make sure everything on the right of all VTS has PROCESS under the Action, if NOT (any of them is marked as SKIP, then click on the "PROC. ALL" button
<> now click PROCESS at the bottom, just relax and wait until VobBlanker is done (it should be 10 - 12 minutes only)

That's it... enjoy it. Now you can just load your newly created BLANKER ZORRO\VIDEO_TS into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice) and perform your usual method of transcoding/compressing.

Just incase if you're not sure of what I'm talking about. Here's "LEGEND OF ZORRO" (2006 Region 1, US) that I recently processed with VobBlanker 2.1.0.0.

@ALKOHOL

So, any luck w saw 2 ?

I thought I had a clean decrypted folder on my HD from Dvdfab decrypter platinum (Please see above)...., but I was wrong...

so all thet work till 4 A.M was for nothing. LOL

anyway, it showed (5) full-size 1,048 MB VOB's, but the movie stops somewhere at VOB #4

somehow VOB#5 is BLANK..black screen thruout.

either I had a bad press, or this one IS THE ONE for you to crack man.

Now, as weird as this may sound, a co-worker of mine brought in a fresh copy of Saw 2, done with ONLY DVDshrink, BUT an old version...maybe 3.1 or something ..I tried it, works flawlessly.

Any explanation to this mystery ?

There is nothing on SAW II as I used Pgcedit and did not even need the Pls2 plug-in. You must have a bad press . Return it for another. I am in Region 1

Like Car.Mike said, SAW 2 is nothing special. I did it with the latest DVDFAB Decrypter using my "VobBlanker method" to blank out those 2 annoying fbi warnings and a few unwanted stuff, then PROCESS it smoothly. And yes, it should work with PgcEdit + PSL plugin + FixVTS easily as well.

Maybe you just had a bad pressed that's all.

Car.Mike & Alkohol..

Thanks again guys for input.

Can I still salvage the files I made from dvdfab platinum ?
I mean the 5 VOB's with a completely blank one and the 4th one working only halfway ?

I would mind to tinker around as a learning experience, but i'll do it ONLY if you guys say it CAN be done.

Please give me your link to pgcedit...PSL blabla..so i can waste some time on it. Thanks buds!

Do not waste your time. Get another DVD and rip that. You can rename the files you have now and play w/ them as time permits but I know of no program that can bring back a bad rip. Actually Scotch helps when you have a DVD problem but that is another topic. LOL

thanks CAR.MIKE

thats what I thought..I have the dvd already (made from a copy from my friend), I was just curious if I could learn the pgcedit at the same time.

could be a bad dvd too.

the PSL plug-in..is this integrated into pgcedit ? or its a separate software I have to downlaod?

and what do these 2 sw do exactly ?

sergiovv,
There are 2 ways or more to do this and I really do not think Nero can do it. One way is you have to shoot the file at 2000 frames per second and the other way is to use Adobe Premiere (or a similiar program like Scenarist or Final Cut) and one of the plug-ins that you can get for that program that allows you to simulate Slow motion. I just do not think Nero will let you do that

@Car.Mike

Thanks for giving me a hand there buddy. I know I can always count on you and JaguarGod.

@sergiovv

To be honest with you, I haven't done anything like that with Nero before. It may be possible or it may not. It won't hurt to ask Nero Tech Support though, if you truly want to know if Nero is capable of handling the slow motion.

I'm a dvd ripping & burning person, that's my passion. In addition, my other passion is rebuilt PS2 games (i.e. rip, rebuild and burn). You can asked me just about any converting, ripping, decrypting, backup, transcoding (transcoder) and encoding (encoder) softwares/programs and I'll have an aswer for you. Furthermore, if only you'd asked me on how to rip/decrypt such movies/titles, then I may have an honest answer for you, but in addendum to your question, I honestly don't know the answer.

"Many Thanks" once again for your help. I followed your precise, detailed instructions for backing up "The Legend Of Zorro" and the back-up works fine. Your instructions with photos are so helpful, a person couldn't go astray.I'm really pleased I joined this Forum, as I've learned a lot about backing up troublesome DVD's.

@dvdnuts - for more info on how to rip, rebuild and burn PS2 games, click on my link "Easy methods to rebuild PS2 games" under my sig., or head to the "PS2 DVD discussion forum", check out those stickied on the top and you'll be fine. Actually DVD Decrypter can rip and burn PS2 games beautifully as well.

@PWANJO - you're welcome, glad I could help. And glad you were able to successfully made a backup by following the short VobBlanker guide. Enjoy your backup to the fullest now. Best of lucks to your future dvd(s) backups.

LOL, even with all my pictures and instructions written, can you believe that some (Newbies/members) are having issues left to right? Really, LOL, at least I know that they're doing something wrong or having some sort of cracking engines (i.e. AnyDVD or DVD43) in the background.

Hello,

I am having problems backing this movie up and did not see anything like my problem in the above ones.

When I used DVDfab my D: read (The_Fog_2005)
While Alkohols said just (The_Fog)
This is a method for the latest movie right? Not the old one?

Also when I use DVDfab I only get up to 15_VTS.... I don't seem to get up to 26 or 28 whatever yours goes to.

I cannot seem to burn this anyway possible and keep getting the same old error message.

Any help would be great.
Thanks :)

Jake16,
There are a few ways to do it : I will give you both of alkohol's guides. You can do it either way. Do you get an error and what is the error mesage? Make sure it is the newest version of DVDFAB Decrypter. You can also use AnyDVD as it gives you a 21 day trial version.

Method 1
1: http://www.k-probe.com/backup-movies-DVDDecrypter-PgcEdit-VobBLan... You can use Shrink instead of Recode

Method 2
2: http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-release-DVD-DVDFAB-Decrypter-...

I am a newbie, I've only been making backups for a few days, thanks to this forum!

Now I'm trying to backup Brothers Grimm using your guide. I downloaded DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and just now - DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker.

Just starting out on your instructions, I get to the point where I click the start button, and I get the window asking me, "...all of the files in directory D...are you sure?" I click yes. Then I get an window stating, "There isn't enough free space on D:."

Can someone help me out? I truly don't have a clue... Thank you!

It is asking you how much free space on the HD do you have. I suggest you have a Minimum of 20 GB. How much do you have?

Thank you Car.Mike for responding. No, it's not asking me - it's a gray windown (I truly am NEW to all of this) with a little red X and says DVDFab Decrypter across the top of the window, within a blue strip.

Then the Red X and, "There isn't enough space on Drive D:." And then the 'okay' button.

Our computer is brand new, only 10 days old...

This happens when I try to start the decryption in the first steps of alkohol's guide here on the first post to this thread...

I have backed up several copies (thanks to this forum) using instructions just for DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. This is the first time I'm attempting Brothers Grimm and these new instructions.

Any help appreciated - thank you!

* I just checked and I have DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.7.2. - this is not the same as in the example. I don't know if this matters?
