Well they must trust you, VCD. If they hire someone (especially without an interview), on your say-so *alone*, then they DO trust you.
Maybe you two will be working together. Lacking further information, I think it's unfair of your employer to keep you 'hanging' like this, and I really think they ought to tell you straight one way or the other, you know?

Thanks everybody!! you are all a great bunch.. I would hire any of you in an instant, that is if I become manager. Today, I had a talk with the CEO of the technical recruiting office that does the hiring for my company, and still no promises yet of me getting the promotion, yet it does not appear that they are looking for anybody else for the job, so who knows what that means. I hate to keep you all in suspense, but that is exactly where I am right now, and not sure which way this is going to go. Anyhow, thanks for all of your support.. trust me, this has not been an easy ride for me.

Update.. I have been offered a job as a network administrator making more money and less bull$hit.. I will most likely be interviewing for the job tomorrow, and if all goes well I don't really care whether I get a promotion or not at my current job!! ... or, my current job could decide that it would be in their best interest to give me a HUGE pay raise along with a promotion.. things are starting to look up.

Well I can't totally agree with one good thing canceling a bad. I mean it's not like donating £5 to charity after murdering someone and expect them to cancel out.

the downside to a 10 day wait is more people would just go elsewhere to get help. Not everybody is going to be the video encoding enthusiast.. only about 2% of the people who come to this site really want to know more about encoding, I think people just want to make it work and be done with it.
Oh, and in case any of you didn't already know, 98% of all statistics are made up, including this one.

The problem is what VCDJunkie says -- the move would lose probably some traffic from the forums and traffic is still, after all, the way for us to make money. And as we somewhat like money, we prefer to keep the traffic coming in :-)
