OK I have an MKV file of the wonderful movie "The Shawshank Redemption" that I want to burn to DVD, but what's the best way of going about it with still keeping the quality good at the same time? The MKV file is in HD and very good quality, will I need to get some sort of HD DVD to burn on? (do those even exist for empty-sale yet?)
Thanks in advance. Plus, anyone know any GOOD MKV converters that convert to AVI and keep the quality at the same time? I really would like to show this movie to my parents.
Regards

ConvertXtoDVD will convert your MKV to DVD, I have done many with no apparent quality loss. All you need is a regular DVD but the trial of ConvertXtoDVD will put a watermark in your video.

Thanks, I'm checking it out now.
I am converting now but frequently in the brief log I keep getting "Error while decoding stream" or something like that, is this something I should be really concerned with? Or will my output still be fine?

OK I got it to successfully burn to DVD and it worked with fantastic quality but its the audio that lets everything down; the audio is noticeable out of sync to the video by a small amount. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
I would really appreciate someones help!

Sorry, never had a problem with audio and don't know much on mkv. Maybe something here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f65/ You could try this too, says it supports mkv. Before you encode the file, run it through AviMux_Gui: http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/ (vl 17.7-binary) Drag your original file into the top window, highlight it and select generate data. In the lower window, select audio and any delay will appear to the right in ms. If other than 0 appears, select start, place and name your new file as you wish and encode it. Only takes a minute or two but doesn't help on gradual sync issues.

Hi, I installed the codec; is there anything else I need to do or shall I just try encoding and burning with ConvertXtoDVD again?

Hi,
ConvertXtoDVD needs no external codecs on the PC.
Codecs will help making the .MKV play on the PC but do nothing for ConvertXtoDVD.
v3.00 is coming out real soon, and will fix tons of bugs found in v2.2.3
Maybe you are experiencing a bug that might have been fixed in v3.00
If you purchased v2.2.3, you may be in title to get v3.00 free and VSO are actually giving out the ßeta if you wish to try v3.00
Maybe your .mkv file will now be converted properly in v3.00
