I'm extremely new to this, so I have a couple questions if you guys don't mind. I just downloaded DVDDecrypter, and DVDShrink. I'm trying to burn my first DVD and have had it fail out on me 4 times thus far. After the third time I did a search, found your site and a post, and registered. I did what it suggested in the post, and tried it a 4th time, which I needed to anyways, so that I could see if it failed and actually copy the report this time (can you say DURRRR? LOL). I tried it a 4th time after doing some of the things suggested, and it was at 87% last time I looked at it, and BAM .. Failed. Here's the report:

OK .. now, I know from reading posts earlier that it looks as if I only have one error, and it's a KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR, so I take it that the Memorex DVD-R's I bought aren't the best in the world? I also noticed that it seems my memory is a bit low. I just got this laptop a month ago, via a trade of some audio goods to a buddy for his laptop. I will be upgrading my memory, but not just yet. Basically, I just wanted to see if you guys agree with what I'm thinking the issue is, and also to see if there is still a way for me to burn, even if my memory isn't the greatest? Any suggestions any way?
Now to my next question: I realize you can decrpyt a DVD and then use the files from the decryption to burn it. BUT .. what if you download a movie and have it be a video clip? How would you burn it using Shrink?
Sorry for all the questions and all guys, I'm just new to it, and wanting to get a couple of these movies on DVD to watch on my home theatre.
Thanks a ton in advance. You guys are amazing with your knowledge and answers.
Scott

Thanks a ton man. I have some more questions now though, call me a novice to the max on some of this stuff.
1. Which version of that DVD Fab should I dl/use? Platinum or Gold? I don't do the HD thing yet, so I figure that one is out.
2. Which firmware should I pick up and install, and how hard is it to do? I'm brand new to firmware install, and saw some info that said it could be tricky, etc?
3. I'm using a Dell Latitude D600 laptop.

Ok, sorry for all the posts, I just downloaded DVDFab platinum and gold both, just in case, and I also got 103D, and flashed my drive, and turned it back on. It found the drive and seems to have updated the firmware. Just out of curiosity, what exactly does this do and help with?

Awesome. Thanks a ton. Well, ok .. so the firmware is updated, and I just downloaded the DVDFab HD version and have it installed. Just have to figure out all the workings of it, and read the guide. Only other question I have is, does this do both the decryption and the burning process? Or do I still use Shrink to do the burn? Just wondering. Any other suggestions? Does the memory issue have any bearing on the error, that you can see?
And lastly ... what about the question about the dl video clip file burning to a DVD? Would that be something I would want to go straight into Nero and it would do for me?
Thanks so much for all the help. I can't wait to get it working and burning.

All your questions can be answered with the guides I have posted here. You basically, have two choices. Paid or Free. Since, your new to DVD backup. I'd start with DVD PLATINUM. To learn how to use the software, you can either click on the question mark located at the top right of the program Window, or go to the DVDFAB.com website and click on tutorials, both paths take you to the same place. DVD HD DECRYPTER, DVD SHRINK, AND IMGBURN, can be used in combination to backup your DVD's for free. Please, spend some time reading through the information provided here. Then if you still have questions, I or someone else here at Afterdawn will be glad to assist you further.
