I have a very difficult problem on both my Mom's puter and mine. weird. on both hers and mine respectively, we are the sole users. so u have me and then the guest.

Now I wish to log on when it restarts WITHOUT HAVING ANYTHING APPEAR. So I think that means "no welcome screen" Now somewhere along the lines, I don't know if it was because it brought up something wrong, to make sure I went "control userpasswords2" and checked off does not require password. then from then on when I'd restart I would get the loading settings and it would freeze. i would not be until I get another keyboard, mine is bt, and then hit ctr alt del then my name would come up in the windows classic box and then I would hit enter and i would go in.

in other words it wont let me in.

I then went and got TweakUI Well, it does fix it partially. I did check off the logon part, require no paswd and sign in as eric . and it works. but if I run CleanUp and it does a Quick restart, whatever they are called, we still have the same problem, it will not let me in

Strange enough a guy who runs a forum who taught me a lot said that this thing is very touchy. Fool around with taking off TweakUI and controluserpasswords2 unchecking, checking and it may get fixed

Has anyone had problems like this
Can u help Maybe I could tell you , at your request, what settings I have and where and with the help of me communicating and your professional knowledge we could fix it.

Thanks so much
Eric

What do you mean, not let me in? Is Windows asking for a password and you don't know it?

at first when it does not go directly into windows, I have to hit control alt delete. Then when a window comes up with my name in it I have to hit cancel or just enter, whichever mood it is in to let me in then it is fine.

Remember, this is all ok with the TweakUI on. but I just like things running 100% and would like to fix this and remove Tweak cause I use it for nothing else

thanks

Check the following, since it would cause exactly what you are describing:

open Control Panel / User Accounts

click on the Advanced tab

is the Secure Logon - Requires Users To Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete box checked? If it is, that's what is making you use that key combination, obviously.

Ah, my previous answer assumed your PC was part of a network. If your PC is not connected to a network domain, log on as an administrator and open User Accounts. Click Change the way users log on or off. Uncheck Use the Welcome screen and click Apply Options.
