NO. DVD compliant files only like .ifo or .vob (the contents of a VIDEO_TS folder) or an .iso (disk image) of such a thing.
Cant you shrink that with AutoGK and their custom size setting?

yes it will work with downloaded avi files, but you have to convert the avi files to vob complyment and thain you could use shrink, also most of your avi files are 700mg and under, so what are you trying to do?

Deadrum, Rob and Rdmercer, thank you for the reply. I was told to use Dvd flick to convert. So once i convert the avi, and if under 700, do i just burn using nero? After the completed burn will this disc have the 5.1 dolby digital incorporated? I reason i was asking was because i downloaded a file that was 2 hours and 40 minutes long.
What about converting a 2 hr and 40 min movie then using a dvd splitter, i don't mind putting it on two discs. Can any of explain how i would split a long movie?
Also, what do i select in Video Ts folder, is it actually the movie file?
I was thinking, when you download a avi video file, there are no other xtras such a menu or all those other things associated with an original disc, so how much more can you shrink a video file?
Would really appreciate a response,
Thanks,
Aazy

most of the times avi files won't contain ac3 5.1 audio, just 2ch stero, if you want the 5.1 get the files that are at least 3.50 gb or larger, also most of the 700mg files won't have extras or previews

@Aazy
If you download a 700mb avi, when you converted to DVD format with decent quality, will be larger than 700MB, will be at least double( depending on the quality you choose for your DVD). It is really not important how long the movie is( time wise), but the size in MB. You could have a movie that is 3 hrs long in 1Gb, and you can have a movie 1 hr long in 2 Gb. Of course, the quality between the 2 would be different.
How big is your file? I use DVD Flick and I like it a lot, you can put subtitles in the DVD if you have them, and supports a variety of formats, and is FREE.
If you want to do everything with free tools, including putting the movie on 2 discs, you can do that with DVD Flick and DVD Shrink. And then you use Nero to burn to disc.If you have Nero. Otherwise you can get a free burner also.If you have nero, you can use Nero Recode instead of DVD Shrink. If you have not found a different metod yet,I will walk you through. Let me know.
P.S
Quote: and if under 700, do i just burn using nero
Do you intend to burn on a CD or a DVD?
