Sorry, I failed to notice the clue in the title of your post,
If you have a HDD installed, and you have an orginal disc of HD advance, and obviously a network adapter to plug the HDD into then No, you do not need the MC exploit.
I believe the MC exploit is used to boot a back-up of HD Advance or HD loader but TBH, this software is quite cheap online so just buy the disc, especially considering the other savings your making.
