remote buttons won't work

I just finished authoring my 1st DVD using DVDSP and I'v hit a mother of a road block. When I checked my button connections using the simulator I could navigate the menu using the mouse but when I tried to use the remote buttons nothing would happen. I burned the DVD anyway to see how it would react. I could play the movie and navigate the disc using the chapter button on the remote but the arrow buttons won't work. Did I connect something wrong?
