ClonyXXL, ASPI Driver, CD-R problem

I've been having trouble scanning discs with ClonyXXL, I guess because I had no ASPI driver/layer installed.
I installed the Adaptec ASPI layer and now Clony apparently can't detect my cd drive anymore. It can only detect my virtual drive.
When I go to CD-ROM setup in Clony's GUI, the only option it gives me is to assign a drive letter to my virtual drive but my cd drive isn't listed.
If I disable the ASPI layer, Clony seems to then detect my cd drive, but ONLY when the ASPI layer is disabled.
Is Clony trying to tell me there's some kind of problem here with my cd drive and ASPI driver?
