Hey guys. I've sort of neglected my PSP for quite some time, I'm afraid. I think its on FW 1.50 or 1.51, and back then I hacked around a little bit with getting games and such to load from memory. I'd like to get back into modding my PSP.
What is the best "path" towards getting the latest hacked firmware onto my PSP, from where I am now? Thanks.

Thanks!
I've downloaded the 3.71 M33-4 version, but what exact process do I need to go through to get it onto my PSP? Everything I'm reading seems to suggest I can't just go directly to 3.71 M33-4? Having a "native" 1.50, is this true?
Also, I read that there is a separate 1.50 kernal patch that is available for download, but some people say its included in 3.71 M33-4. Do I need to get it separately?
Finally, on Dark Alex's homepage, there's a "Release.rar" and then the M33-4 rar. Do you have to use the "release" one first? Or is that just the first version, and I should skip over it for version 4?
Thanks.

You would have to install 3.52M33 prior to updating to 3.71M33-4..You cannot just update from 1.50 to 3.71M33
Have a look at the guide found HERE To get you on your way...

Thank you - I've been using that guide and I'm afraid I've run into a problem
I went through the process of installing 3.52M33 (not yet to update 4),and rebooting the PSP. Now unfortunately, I can't seem to get to the dashboard. The game in the UMD boots just fine, but if I hit "home", I don't get a dashboard, but rather a blue screen in many languages that say things are corrupted and hit O to restore default settings. Not sure what do to from here. Thanks.

You should be ok once you hit the O button to restore default settings...If not, try going into recovery mode and format flash1
To access recovery mode-first make sure your psp is turned off completely (not sleep or standby), then while turning the psp back on, hold down the R trigger button so it will boot into recovery console..From there scroll to 'advanced', and then to 'format flash1 and reset settings'- That should solve your issue.

Hi, just to re-open this post.
I have a PSP and have bought the unpatched version of GTA from ebay which should arrive before christmas.
Im going to follow this guide:
1. Update to 3.03 if already on 3.03 go on to the next step
2. Open the 3.03 downgrade file (303dg.zip) and copy the psp folder to the root of your memory stick. Example Image
Note: Don't copy the PSP folder into the MP_ROOT folder
Spoiler for Example:
3. Open the 1.5 update zip and rename the EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP then copy it to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
Make sure not to overwrite PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
Spoiler for Example:
4. Load GTA LCS
5. It should get to loading save game, clear the screen, the screen should fill with a light blue color and then reset the PSP
(If this does not happen see below)
6. Check that HEN is running by going to system settings then System Information and it should show up as system version 303 HEN
7. If it is showing up as 3.03 HEN then go to the Game menu and run the x.yz update
8. Before the downgrader does anything to your PSP it will ask for you to agree to what it is doing
If you no longer want to continue press the Right Shoulder Button (R-TRIGGER).
9. Once you have agreed to start the downgrade do not unplug the PSP
10. Once finished the PSP will ask you to press X, after pressing it will reset it self. (If it don't reset press O instead)
11. If a blue screen (BSOD) comes up saying that the settings are corrupt press X or O to continue.
12. Enjoy the new 1.5 PSP
If all goes well i should be in 1.5 or would i be right in sayin this is a custom 3.03 HEN im not too sure as im new to PSP downgrading.
Could i ask where to go from here, sorry if this has been asked before so many times. All i really want to be able to do is download ISO's of games and play them.. I can create Mp4's of movies and mp3s no problem, its mainly just allowing the psp to play iso's and csos is what im after, will firware 1.5 allow this or will it ask me to update the firmware to the required firmware based on each game
Also on the site im goin to be following the link for the 1.50 update refers to a North american update, would this make a difference if i was to be using a UK version psp.
Thanks for all help.

^^ That looks good-As far as your updates are concerned, better to go with the North American one-your other option is japanese...
Once you get to 1.50, you will want to install custom firmware to play your iso's from the memory stick-Use the guide I posted earlier in this thread to get you there...

Thanks for all your help so far. I've gotten 3.71M33 installed, and now I'm wondering about installing the 1.50 kernal patch. Upon attempting to install, it tells me it will for some reason get rid of location free video and korean text. As long as Japanese text remains I'm fine, but location free video sounds useful? Isn't that streaming over the internet?
Will I only lose those features when using 1.50 gear, or will they be removed from 3.71M33-4 (when I install -4) as well? Also, is it worth it to install the 1.50 kernal update in general?
Finally, if I do install the 1.50 kernal, do I have to leave the 150 in the root directory of my memory stick forever?
Thanks! Think I'm almost finished ^^;

You want to install the 1.50 kernel patch after you update to 3.71M33-4 should you plan to use any homebrew that requires it, or emulators for that matter..As far as removing the location free player, that is not a big deal unless you have a location free player unit-which is essentially a router that streams content to your psp or PS3...
"The LocationFree base station connects wirelessly to a home network. Up to three devices and can stream content through the network to local content provision devices or across the internet to remote devices. A remote user can connect to the internet at a wireless hotspot or any other internet connection anywhere in the world and receive streamed content. Content may only be streamed to one computer at a time. The user is required to obtain an additional (paid) license in order to stream to another computer."
You can actually format your memory stick once you get done installing the firmware to your psp-
