is there anyone here I can hire that can fix my wiikey installation? I messed up on the soldering and accidentally soldered a couple legs on the chip together.

Ya, I have the same problem, a bit of solder got caught between two of my legs of the chip. I tried using the soldering gun to pick the solder back up but was having some trouble and spent quite a while attempting to remove the solder. Unfortunately, it took so long I think I might have melted two of the legs of the chip. Stupid mistake on my behalf.

So just a tip, don't be stupid like me. Does anyone else know how this can be fixed or am I totally out of luck.

Thanks

No, it's not completely gone, just the end tip of it seems to have melted and spread out, as if it was flattened. And because the leg has spread out, it appears two of the legs are now touching each other.

Try desoldering whick. it is a braid of copper that basicly sucks up the solder. just put the braid on top of the solder you want to pick up and apply the iron to the top of the braid to melt and remove teh solder.

I put my wii back together, plugged it in and it still runs, so I'm gonna forget about the wiikey for now. Thanks for your help.

you can get a solder vacuum kit from radio shack, i had the same problem. they are really cheap, all u do is heat the solder with the gun and suck up the excess solder. pretty easy actually.

That is not recommended for small jobs. It could damage the IC legs and possibly the area around it.
