The .rar file that I got has five different versions of the firmware. They are Non stealth, 2X, 5X 8X and 12X. Which one should I use?

Use the default 12x just incase m$ can detect the speed the disc is being read at.

Thanks, just one more question. If 12x is the safest why did the guy make the other speeds anyways?

the others are just so it reads a little slower(usually meant for cheaper discs) and so the laser isn't working as hard trying to read a cheaper disc and i am sure if you use a higher quality dvd+r dl(verb or mem)you should be just fine with the 12x. i have the 8x right now and it is significantly slower, that is a good point by ziggy, i wonder if ms can detect that it is reading slower.
