What firmware do you have? If you have a CFW then just get the Music PRX plugin. I'll go into detail about that if you confirm you have a cfw. Otherwise, play your psp and put an iPod headphone in one ear :)

Do me a favour and use this guide and tell me what motherboard you have. You need to downgrade to 1.50 then upgrade to a CFW to be able to play games.

Here, try this:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/755

Seems to be a user-friendly way of dealing with your problem.

WARNING: I haven't personally tested this on my PSP (as I've already got CFW) so use at your own risk!!!!! If you're unsure, go to Google and look up "how to downgrade psp from 2.71 to 1.5". One way to know you've found something legitimate, is look for multiple sites/links that have the same instructions. I've done the same and gotten a lot of results, but I went with this link, because it seems to be user-friendly.

Let me know how it goes/went!

if you have a pink psp is a ta-086 motherboard

if you are sure that you have a ta-081 you will need to use the generic downgrader
you can find the guide here under "-2.71 PSP" click the show button

you cant go straight from 1.5 to 3.71m33 ,first you need 3.52m33, then install update 4 and you will have 3.52m33-4 only then you can install 3.71m33

see this guide to install 3.52m33-4
http://my.afterdawn.com/larrylje_redwings/blog_entry.cfm/2319

then see here to go from 3.52m33-4 to 3.71m33-4
http://my.afterdawn.com/larrylje_redwings/blog_entry.cfm/2323

skip the first part and start where it says
"Once your at 3.52 M33-3 or M33-4 follow the guide below... "
