NTSC Games on PAL PS2

I apologize in front for the lack of info re: my PS2 since I was too young when I had it modded (and purchased for that matter)

I have a PAL PS2, modded, but i don't know what chip. (To boot ps2 dvds you have to hold the eject button, let the disk load, then switch)

General question first: Does the mod chip also allow for multiple regions of PS2 games to be played?

2nd:

I've recently tried an ntsc Final Fantasy XII to see if it would work, and it did! Then I bought Xenosaga from ebay, knowing that they don't make them in PAL, and it just does not work with my playstaion :(

Do you guys know if all mod chips allow for the region thingy, and if you can have your playstation re-modded (take it to be redone) or perhaps some boot disk there is, or another trick :)

well one thing you can do is use an NTSC to PAL converter, I tried a PAL to NTSC converter with HD loader and it worked fine.
