MediaCoder - help make thumbnails

I'm trying to create a thumbnail gallery of my AVI/MPG files. Mediacoder (apparently) can do this - but I cannot figure out how. Can anyone list the basic steps?

I've been looking for help on the Mediacoder Forum - but no answeres so far. Thanks for any help.
