Strange popping/crackling sound in snes9xTYL? *slim psp*

I was excited to try out some emulators on my new slim psp with 3.71M33 CFW
but when i installed snes9xTYL and loaded a game i noticed the sound was all poppy and crackling constantly...sort of sounds like when speakers are strained and distorting sound, which in this case they are obviously not.
This happens on all the roms i test, they are good roms as i have played them before on PC.

anyone else get this problem? is it a slim issue or a software issue?

seems it could be a rom issue/software issue.
different versions of roms have different amounds of popping and clicking. So far none have been completely free.
so no one else gets this clicking/popping sound?

Not exactly no.
doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it sounds like the sound is getting clipped or something. Kind of like a bad mp3 with noise in it.
They are not loud "POPS" though, more like little bits of sound getting cut off and a low level crackle in the bg.

I've been playing secret of mana and i've also noticed the sound seems to slow down and speed up as if it can't handle the emulation and starts lagging.

but it seems no one else has an issue like this? strange..
