Hi All,
I need some help in understanding programs I'm using to copy my movies.
Right now I use these 3 programs: DVD Fab, DVD Decrypter,& DVD Shrink.
When I run DVD Fab the program asked if I want to upgrade so when I check on it's link it sends me to a web site to purchase DVD Platinium or DVD Gold.
What I would like to know is.. are these two packages be it DVD Platinium or DVD Gold, a one step program that does what the 3 step programs I'm using now to copy my movies?
And....are these programs like an older software I bought called DVD X Copy..? ( which was forced to go out of business...?)

Right now I'm using a freebie.....
I don't mind buying a version.....I just don't want to get burnt like I did with DVD X COPY....
Also would like to know if anyone else might have bought on of these versions....?

Not to worry about dvdfab. It is from China where decrypters are safe for now, as opposed to x copy ehere it was based in the USA

I'm not sure if I'm using this program right I clicked on main movie and copied it to my hard drive.....
Now how do I copy it to a blank dvd....?????
Before I used DVD Fab and then went to DVD Shrink to re-author...Do I still have to use DVD Shrink as well..?

Yeah, run it through DvdShrink to transcode and burn.

So....
Is it safe to say that if I was to purchase DVD FAB Platinium/ or Gold I wouldn't have to use another program like DVD Shrink.
I would just be using the one program DVD Fab Platinium/ or Gold.

The only program i've ever used is DVDfab Platinum. I totally dont understand all this hoop jumping with using 1 thing to rip, Another to shrink, Yet another 1 to burn, while running the other one in the background to make it all happen.
I've been backing up dvd's for like a month now and i read alot of posts here with all sorts of problems with xxxx and cant copy xxxxx. Theirs nothing that DVDfab has failed to do for me.
I put the DVD in one tray and put a dvd+r in the other tray, Start dvdfab then wait 30-45 minutes (depending on size) and waaalaaa! I made a back up... I'm like.. Whats all the fuss about? lol

As bilbo65 mentioned there is the principle of cost concerning most backup DVD. There are other items to mention as well. Some people like AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 combo, some people like, DVDFab, and some people such as myself like DVD Rebuilder.
Now DVD Rebuilder does not have a ripper, and you do have to add some other software that could be costly but the end process is a rebuilt DVD with more quality than you can ever get out of the other programs.
Because DVD-RB does not have a ripper I use either the free version of DVDFab or AnyDVD. I rip to the HDD and then run the rip version of the film through DVD ReMake Pro. With that program I can strip, remove, change menu's, change DVD Structure, and many other things. I then run the processed file through DVD-RB.
So you see I have paid for programs that will give me some of the best quality backups you can get. But the point of us telling people how to rip and burn is because not everyone can buy the programs and you can get a decent backup of a DVD for free.

ImgBurn Free!
usually these will get the job done without a problem, but there are a couple of other programs that may need to be used as well. Like IfoEdit and FixVTS are good to use if you get into a sticky situation, but as I said that does not happen often.
Yes, it is a three to four step process but if done correctly you will have a great backup of you original DVD using only free programs to do it.
