I've ran into this problem several times now where I try to back up a disc using Shrink and it won't work because the original DVD will have too much info on it. I usually just start deleting the extra languages to lessen the file size and sometimes even have to delete the extras of the disc to make it fit. I recently tried to back up a disc where both of these tactics still didn't get the disc out of the red bar and fully into the green. Does anyone know how to make it fit? Thanks guys!

Are you using DvdShrink alone or something to rip it to hard drive first?

The disc is Eric Clapton's 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival, Disc 1. I'm using DVD Shrink alone; I suppose I could use DVD Fab Decrypter but I don't know what good that would do to have DVD Shrink use the file from my hard drive instead of from the disk?

When I first started I was like you in that I thought why need a decrypter that puts the dvd onto the HDD and then use shrink, when shrink can do it all. Well times have changed and so have my opinions. It is wise to back up to the HDD in that you can edit the data prior to burning. I now prefer that a decrypter on the fly with transcoding is just not the way to go as I get better results when first I decrypt to the HDD.Also dvd shrink is no longer supported and newer encryptions are problematic. This is the reason for dvdfabhd. We use dvdfabhd because we use dvd shrink (freeware)

@7thsinger, I did'nt know you liked Nd:YAG lasers, and their fundamental wavelength (1064 nm). We think alike bro!

So you're saying that I will not only get better results using DVD Fab Decrypter first but that it might solve my problem of not being able to get it all to fit on my disc?

Assuming that you are wanting to use single layer discs in your backups, then putting the dvd onto the HDD first makes sense in that you get to edit the data and leave out all the unwanted and undesirable files ( I like to use vob blanker for that). Transcoding takes place next( if using dvd shrink, then dep analysis and advanced error correction is posible). Finally a really great burner such as imgburn can be utilized to burn and give you a great back up disc to watch.Try this link:
