that guide says that you need to download auto gordon knot and K-lite. the latter contains heaps and heaps of prorams and i really dont want to have so many on myu comp. is is essential to download the k-lite? ( i already have AGK)

It is necessary to download the codec pack.

You mention simplest way possible and without having to spend any money. I suggest you follow the guide. You need the codecs pack. The ensuing file you want is AVI. AVI is not in itself a codec. It is a universal "container format" that several codecs can use. There is no single best answer to this question. There are numerous codec options. The most sensible option is to download codec packs. These are compilations of codecs assembled in single large files. There is much deliberation over whether it is essential to obtain a large collection of codec files, but it surely is the simplest and least-annoying choice for novice downloaders.

Very informative. This is exactly what I needed. But I'm having a problem converting. When I select the path for the Input File and open the Video_TS folder, there are multiple files and file types inside. Seems like a normal process. I'm thinking I select all the files and Auto GK will sort them out and merge them into one nice neat AVI file around 700 mb. Problem is, I can select only ONE file of any type. Thinking that maybe it only needed the first file to start the ball rolling I clicked on the VOB VTS_01 file and started the process. 8 mins later the job was done??? Obviously something went wrong and it lies with selecting the files. I can't select all the files inside the ripped VIdeo_TS folder, only one. If I hold down either Shift or CTRL and click on another file that file is hilighted but the first file is deselected. Yet I can't select the Video_TS folder without it opening. How do I select the files inside the folder and convert them? Also, there are no Audio Options listed in the Audio Tracks Box (Step 2) Thanks for any help offered

Teelow,
For DVD like directory that contains .IFO file and VOB files. Load the IFO file. Once loaded, it is then parsed and choice of audio streams and subtitles are and should be presented to you.
