i have tried to rip a set of dvds and keep getting this error
"dvd shrink encountered an error
failed to read file E:\
data error (cycle redundancy check)"

i thought that it was the dvds that were scratched but there were 6 of them and they werent. these dvds are from another country so i have to change the code over for my country (*aus)

wondering if anyone knew how to get around these problems, or if there is anyother programs to be able to rip these dvds ?thanks

thanks alot!!
cya later!

since they aren't scratched then its most likely the protection is causing the problem

so choices are

freeware

dvdfab decrypter to rip dvd shrink to transcode(sometimes you will need to use FixVTS or VOB Blanker to clean the file before transcoding with dvd shrink) then nero, imgburn or dvd decrypter to burn.

or use the pay programs

clonedvd 2 +anydvd 21 day free trial

dvdfab platinum

heres guides and places to download the software

Nope, it links to the DVDFAB website, but I get "page not found" Here's your link copied and pasted back. See if it works for you. http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm. Here's mine. http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
The only difference between the two, is yours has a period at the end, mine does not.

Just a heads up... is all. The other link Labeled DVDFAB PLATINUM, takes you to an old version 2.9.6.5, says This software is no longer available, this page is stored for archival purposes only. The newest version, as you well know, is 4.0.1.2, and the Beta is up to 4.0.2.0. I checked the site here at AD, in Video Software/ DVD Rippers and neither ANYDVD or DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER was found, just Shrink and a few others. What's up with that? Looking in the wrong place? I know my way around CDFreaks much better; I can find anything there. This is why I usually post their links instead. If I could find updated information here I'd use these links.

awhile back finland (where ad is based) passed a law that wont let them officially post links or offer downloads to software that break copy protection. thats why the members have to do it. its a legal thing.

Gamename,
Thanks, for the information.

Carmen,
DVD DECRYPTER, has not been updated since 2005. Delete it!
Download this one. DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER 4.0.2.0 (BETA).
http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
Update burner firmware. Use Imgburn to check this.
Select Tools> Drive> Check for firmware updates.
Use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media.
During testing, slow down your burn speed to 4X.
Download Nero Speed, use SCANDISC to test disc quality.
