video out doesn't work with 3.71 m33-4 on slim??

I have a slim with 3.71 m33-4 and bought some component cables from gamestop. I plug them in and get nothing. I go to the settings on the psp and choose "change display" or whatever and it just says "connect av cables". I pull them out and reinsert but I get nothing. I have it set to progressive and 16:9 and am using a hdtv. My tv doesn't detect the signal at all. Is there another setting somewhere I don't know about? I've tried holding the display button in, and nothing works. Driving me nuts. Bad cables a possibility? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nothing huh. Hmmm. Well, could someone please tell me if video out is SUPPOSED to work with custom firmware 3.71 m33-4? I can't find anything on this subject. Thanks.
