Hi, I am starting to learn about blu-ray discs, I read that they can hold 25GB and a dual-layer can hold 50GB, I was wondering if you can just use these discs to hold regular movies and songs and stuff kind of like a flash drive, because they hold so much information I was wondering if I can just use them to store stuff, or does the information have to HD and if I can use them to store things that are regular and not HD and do I need a blu-ray compatible computer or something or can my computer just play it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
At this point, just cheaper to use standard dvds to store. At present a blank single layer blu-ray costs about $13 for 25 Gigs. 10 standard dvds (at 4.7 Gigs ea goes to 47 Gigs total ) at 30 cents ea, errrr do the math. And a plextor blu ray burner/reader was about $999
Must agree with iluvendo here. Being cost effective, you're better off sticking with conventional dvd's if you're going to use them as a means of data storage.
