I am trying to watch a movie from my usb flash drive on my 360 (xvid format) but everytime I try to watch it, I get a message that says "A media update is required to play this content. To get the update, sign in to Xbox Live and play the content again."
I connect to Xbox Live and I get the update, and the movie is watchable. The problem is that every single time I power off my machine and restart it, I get this message, even though it has already been updated in the previous session. Do I need to connect to Live every single time I want to watch a movie, and update, or is there a way to save this update? It is very inconvenient for me to connect our modem every time I want to watch a movie.....
I have even tried clearing my cache, but I still get update notice whenever system is restarted.
Thank you very, very much for the reply. I asked same question at the official xbox forum, but no answer, lol. Hopefully there is a permanent patch some time in near future...
I downloaded a file under the name Xbox360_Fall_Update_DivX_Media_Addon, the description said it will allow you to play divx without going online, however its just the original codec files copied off someones hard drive, so they are still locked to his system, and have the same requirement of having to go online. I hope Microsoft turn it into an offline codec, it will be more convenient for some of us that way.
