Currently I use Rip it 4 Me, Dvd Decrypter, and DVD Shrink 3.2, and Nero . It seems to take just about an hour to completely make a copy. Is there something I can do to make it faster? Possible use newer software and or different software to make a backup quicker? Thanks for all the help. I would be lost without good people like you that reply and help out. Thanks and have a great day.

Merry Christmas, Jeremy

Try DVD Fab to rip - it's free

You already have Shrink and Image burn to burn - it's free

I think the time mostly has to do with processor speed - Shrink takes a while on slower processors. theres also a few quality options in Shrink. You can get lower quality at a faster speed.

I agree with Crab56. The limiting factor, all other things being the same, is system speed. Some DVD drives rip faster than others and burn faster than others, but most of the time is spent transcoding by DVD Shrink. As Crab56 noted, if you have Deep Analysis and Quality Enhancement on when backing up out of Shrink, that increases the time needed, but is usually worth it to get a higher quality video.

A processor upgrade is the only way. I went from 500MB of RAM to 1.25GB of RAM a few months back and it did nothing in terms of speeding up ripping or encoding.

Rip with dvd shrink-main movie only, autoburn with nero. Fast and simple.

For the problematic encryptions, kick in anydvd in the background. With all 3 of those programs,if you got shrink to autoburn with nero, then it's like a 1 program process. You don't even realize anydvd is running in the background and nero is doing the burning.

Main movie only, cut out all unnecessary sound streams,beginning/ending credits=less compression, less need for the quality enhancements-Fast backup process time.
