I have thinking of buying a slimline ps2. Can someone tell me what version I am expected to get and the best option for me to chip it with ease or can i use the slide tool with it, id rather not use a modchip.

really yo would want a old one because then you can use a harddrive and copy games with know slide tool or modchip

You can do that with a slim. Its just more technical.

On the old Fat box do I HAVE to purchase hd advance to get a hdd to work without a Chip??

no. the fat ps2 uses hdloader. and you can either buy a retail hdloader disc or use the memory card exploit to run hdloader.

I'm unmodded so I can't use the MC exploit correct??

I thought that the way I read it you had to first find someone with a modded box to get the exploit on your MC. Then you can run hdloader. Please point me to a thread or two of some value to help clairify this . TIA

what you need is a cheating device (gameshark, action replay MAX, codebreaker) that has usb support. ARMAX is highly recommended as it's easy to use.

exploitstation.com has guides that teaches you how to create the exploit. HERE is the ARMAX tutorial.

you will need to add the hdloader elf file to the save builder file before you finish creating the exploit file. sksapps.com has the elf file, which can be found HERE
