Your basically soldering it just like any other chip, however I must say that modbo chips are of really poor quality, well they were some time back, they are clones of the matrix infinity if I can remember correctly.

but it says it can be done without the wire, i think they trying to say just stick the board on the mother board and solder it (it makes sense to me

but how is that possible

Here the installation diagram for the modbo 760.
http://www.picsystems.net/diagrams_ps2/m..._760_v12_13.jpg

After having a look, I understand what it is saying, basically, you line the chip up with the ten points that you can quickly solder to, then the trace for each of this points is at the edge of the pcb, so tin the motherboard terminals where the chip will be soldered, and the actual chip, and just apply solder to the ends and it will solder directly without having to use any wire for those 10 connections, after soldering those 10 connections, you will have to use wires to finish th rest off.

Here is a simple diagram to show how to line up the chip, you solder the connections with those appropriate. Not very accurate but just to give you an idea of what needs to be done:

Yes, i just pasted the image over the motherboard to try and explain how it should be, the actual chip will fit accurately though, because the scale of the chip and motherboards image is different so they wont look perfect in the pic. But I'm guessing you have a rough idea of how it should be placed and soldered now. And yes it was a v13 motherboard that I pasted the image of the chip on to.

I woudn't recommend getting the usb hard drive because the game compatibility list is not good, you will have problems backing up games to the hd, I had a few problems with it, you would rather get the HDcombo kit for the slimline and use that, but you will need a modchip for it to work.

Im not sure about the memor 32 patcher, as I dont have much experience from it, but from what I've read, you have to patch a bios file, and copy it to your memor 32 memory card, which will give your ps2 the ability to play backups, not sure if this actually works.

I used usb extreme for a while, I only backed up a few games, around 10-15, some did not work, hence the reason why I bought swap magic, then later installed a modchip.
