1. You know those updates you have to install before you play a new game? The one's that say an unauthorized Wii may not work after the update? Will that brick/affect my Wii if I have a modchip in?

2. How easy is it to install a mod chip?

3. Is a soft mod anywhere near release (and is it as good?)

4. Can you use WiFi with modchips?

5. If I were to get one, which one is recommended?

1 not so far Ive updated a couple times and all my backups work

2 It depends on which chipset you have and how handy you are with a soldering iron

3 no and no

4 It depends on the chip set if yours is compatable go with the wiikey!

1. Nothing will happen wii won't get bricked.

4. You can use wifi connection; Nintendo is years away from detecting a modchip on online playing.

5. I would also recommend the wiikey.

I been looking through lots of threads about this modding.
My wii was bought 12 months ago already fitted with a modded chip, the original chip I have found by checking serial number search was a GC2-D2B, any ideas what type of modded chip would have been fitted and can I remod my console?

Well it can be a number of chips. You will have to open it up and take a peak.

Thanks, I'm away for a few more weeks, will check when I get back, but was just seeing if you exp people had any inkling what may have been used 12-15 months ago to mod a GC2-D2B.
