Here's my story. Please take the time to read it and give me any advice. Thanks for your time.
First of all, Hi. My name is Sam Aitken and i'm a 19 year old student at a small university in Wellington, New Zealand. And here is my story...
Ok so i was over the moon when i got a phone call saying that i would be one of the first people in New Zealand to own a 360 thanks to a lucky win at a local supermarket competition. My happiness would soon fade as i realised that the 360 wouldn't turn on (the dreaded 'red light' feature, experienced with many version 1 consoles). Because it was a prize and i recieved the console from a supermarket, who had it delivered to me before they were on the shelves in this part of the world, i couldn't just take it back to the shop and get a refund. And believe me, i wasn't prepared to part with my new baby over Trademe (New Zealands 'Ebay').
After months of trying to sort out the problem with a microsoft representative at the Auckland store over the phone (who barely spoke a word of english btw), we came to the agreement that i would send the console to them and they would solve the problem. Nearly 2 months after that (no exaduration), the console turned up on my doorstep.
Eager to try out the recently serviced toy, i put in Saints Row and within 5 minutes of wreaking havoc throughout the city of Stillwater, a message appeared, stating that "the disk was unreadable", telling me to wipe it with a soft cloth and continue like nothing had happened. WELL, i did exactly as the instructions stated, close, but no cigar. The notice became a re-ocurring thing. Thinking the cd was faulty (console had just been serviced so could not be console), i took the game back expecting to get a refund that was large enough to buy another game. Sadly, the store clerk and manager at Noel Leeming (electronic store) would not and could not prove that the game was faulty, so simply swapped the disk with another one out back. But still, the new cd would not last more than 10 minutes without quitting to the xbox dashboard. Desperate to just get in some intense gaming time before my full time summer job kicked into play, i forgot about Julius, King, Hector, Donny and the Saints, and chose to purchase a different game.
Along came NBA Live 2K7. Sadly, exactly the same frustrating feature occured. I could not complete a single game before the game was seizing up on me, the same deadly message appearing at almost predictable times.
These days, my baby (console) is still sitting on the floor in my flat, plugged into my tiny tv. And every day i still try to squeeze every second of game time i can. It is the most frustration i have experienced with any platform and the guys at microsoft appear to care as much as my dog cares about vegetables. I have purchased lens cleaners and tried all the tricks in the book, all attempts to be in vain. It did not come with warrenty or reciept or anything so can't even prove i own it legally. I have had enough of this as of NOW.
If there is anyone out there who can give me any advice i would greatly appreciate it. It appears microsoft are not too keen to keep customers. Im just going to keep to my loyal pc for now :)
Thanks for reading this guys.

Sam, sorry to hear about your trouble. Your console is obviously broken, and they probably knew it when you won it. You're right, Microsoft doesn't care about one person having this problem. If I were you, I would just google "xbox 360 repair services" and maybe you will find one in your country. If that doesn't work, I would call electronics repair places and maybe someone will try to fix. If that doesn't work, I'd just buy one. If money is an issue, try a used one. Good luck!!

Biksta,
As an owner of a faulty xbox 360, I can definitely understand your frustration and disappointment. But as you have probably found out, you and I are not alone.
I agree with Skinner2 that you could probably try and find someone who is good at fixing the xbox. For instance, i had a tech guy replace my dvd rom (which in the end didn't help as this wasn't the problem), so it is possible to get it fixed.
The other option is to do what i did and sell your xbox 360. There are a lot of people out there who are willing to pay good money for a faulty xbox. You could use the money to buy a new PC game or another console.
