I got my son a alim psp for christmas and the firmware on it is 3.71, so i tried updating to 3.80 and when i go to install it, it says "The update cannot be started. The data is corrupted.(IOE90000001).

Ive tried redownloading it with no luck, just get this code everytime.
Ive googled it and searched in this forum too and ive got nothing! So hope someone can help me, thanks.

are u mad dont be foolish there is no custom firmware 3.80 if u upgrade it to 3.80 u will not be able to play copy and hombrew games on ur psp. u will be sick after u hear things from people upgrading and downgrading and then making pandoras etc etc etc so better to leave in custom firmware. there is no downgrader for 3.80. so better to be in custom firmware.

Thats right it is offical firmware, my son is 5 years old and i dont want him to have custom firmware on his psp, i just want his psp simple, u know, nothing he can mess around with. I have my own psp and that as 3.71m33-3 custom firmware. Plus also i have a pandora @ home so i could always change it in the future if i ever wanted to.

So does anyone know what this code means then?!

Sorted!

I was using a "fake" memory card which does normally work on my phat psp but for some reason didnt wanna work on the slim. So i just used a "not-fake" one and it updated no problem.

Can't blame you on that cd250481 - keep it simple - kids can do all sort of things :)
