im having the same problem thses guys are having
i dont have another cd drive or anything just this one
and i know it isnt my discs becsue before this started
happining my discs worked fine. it started after i
burned a data cd. i have nero, until gateway told me to uninstall it
they wouldnt helo me with a third party program, so i uninstaleed it
and know they want me to replace my entire burner.

version 2002 with service pack 1
the computer is gateway with a intel celeron 1200MHz
and only 128 mb of ram (currently being updated)
my burner came with the computer it is a gateway solo 1450 laptop
the driver version i have is 5.1.2535.0 it is a standard dvd/cdr/rw
I'll try and answer this without even knowing what you're asking m8. If Roxio Easy Cd Cre(a)mater came bundled with your software then go to Settings>Control Panel>Add\Remove and uninstall junk Roxio product and reboot. Now install ASPI Layer and reboot your pc again. Reinstall Nero and see what happens. If you desire cdrw packet write software then I recommend Ahead InCD.

well, i figured it out, my cdrom/r/rw drive went out. its also a combo with a dvd rom. but my dvd rom still works. i got tired of messing with it and bought an external dvd burner.
