The problem you are experiencing is known as a "semi-brick". Did you recently use a game which you may or may not have known its region and allowed it to update?

You can read about bricking and possible solutions in THIS THREAD.

But to sum it up, you will need to get a game with the latest possible firmware update which is the same region as your Wii and allow the auto update.

I has to be in the region of your Wii. (eg. you live in the US it must be NTSC-U) You could borrow an authentic game from a friend or rent one from Blockbuster or somewhere. As far was what games have the 3.1 update, I don't know exactly. If you bricked your Wii with a 3.1 update from PAL or NTSC-J region, then you are SOL until the next update occurs (I think).

As far as order of release, check here: http://www.gbatemp.net/newgon/?dat=wii

i had mario and sonic but after i found out my wii has been semi bricked
it doesnt work now. how do i know if a game has the latest firmware? also your saying that if i simply get a new released game then it will fix my wii from the semi brick? also i have downloaded the new update 1.9g beta fix, should i just unzip the us version or the pal jp and us version? after that which one should i burn on to a disk?

1st I think you misunderstood me a bit. When we're talking about updating your Wii we are NOT talking about updating (flashing) the WiiKey.

Currently Nintendo has updated the Wii's system software to 3.1 If the semi-brick you are experiencing is due to you updating to 3.1 in a different region then you are out of luck I believe until a higher update in your region is released.

As far as updating the WiiKey, the most recent update is 1.9g (beta) which fixes the Super Mario Galaxy issue. You really only need to update the WiiKey when games you want to play do not play anymore (if it ain't broke... don't fix it)

These two are separate things. You got bricked at the Wii system level (nothing to do with the WiiKey) it happened when a game you ran from a different region applied an update to your Wii that was higher than what you had. You could have avoided this by running the Brickblocker program which removes the update check. You should as a rule of thumb run this on out-of-region games anyways.

Not all new games will necessarily have the newest update (3.1), and I don't know where you can find a listing of what games contain what update. Sorry.

Then your Wii is an NTSC-U (North American market).

Unless you bought it off of eBay or imported it from Japan or Europe
