help with wiikey tried everything....URGENT

ok so i installed the chip. turns on and originals works fine. so i take it its a good. solder...maybe. ok so i try everything 1.3 1.2 gco hex 1.9. doesnt read disk gives error... what can i do and is there a way to tell if its the solder or not...thanks

Did you use the quicksolder method? Do you have any pictires of the solder job?

no no pics but i tried both methods...is there a way to tell if the solder job is good. does the wires have to touch each pad r can it just be in the flux

So you have tried both methods and in both cases no signs of activity at all by the Wiikey?

Do you see any signs of bridging? What was the wattage of the soldering iron?

Have you used tape to insulate the Wiikey?

You could use a test to test the connection between a solder point on the board and the the one on the Wiikey (checking for cold joint) and also between the solder points on the Wiikey (checking for bridging).

However I must say that if both soldering methods have given no results whatsoever you might have a bad chip on your hands.

thinks for the help i finally got it. i cleaned the whole thing up and redid it. looks like i might have had a bridge somewhere. all works fine now...
