after successfully installing custom firmware on my slim psp using the pandora method, i accidently got my friend's psp in the bsod loop from 3.71 m33. so i guess thats a brick. is there anyway to unbrick it? i can get it back to what it used to be if i can get it unbricked back to 1.50 or anything really. its just keeps going back to the screen where it says press X for 3.71. m33, press O for official 3.71, etc. please help me out.

First of all you can't downgrade SLIMS to 1.50 and in the BSOD I think you are supposed to press the O(cricle) button ... read every thing there....there should be one line in ENGLISH follow what it says and that is pressing the O button....

the bricked one is a fat one. mine is the slim and its just fine. but no matter which option i choose (besides the official firmware option), after a bunch of text, at the end it says something like " ..done. press X to shut down psp" i've tried pressing X and using the power switch. once i turn it on again with the mem stick in, the cycle continues. without mem stick. black screen

Try turning it on with just the AC Adapter and no battery.

And if it works then.

Download this file HERE and put the battery of the psp that's bricked on your SLIM psp and run the file you download it and press the option to "turn the battery back to normal" it might still be pandorized.

it sounds like your battery is still in service mode. take out the battery and just plug it in. it should boot then. once booted put your battery back in. once you do that go in to your memory stick and convert your battery back to normal

I still play my wii, just not as much. Gave my PSP to my son.

What firmware is it on...1.50 or CFW

If CFW...

Does your recoevry menu work..?

If so, then try reflashing your psp.

Then 2 things

1- Throw it to the trash can
2- Take it to a repair shop

Good luck! You wont be able to do nothing else to your PSP, the problem is on the MOBO, battery and magic stick CANT fix that internal problem, solution would be a HARD reset to the MOBO, but you dont want to so...

What you could do is remove the battery and the memory stick and plug in your AC Adapter then turn on your PSP...it should turn on ...then insert yuor MS and Battery and go to [GAME]>[Memory Stick]> and run pandora's battery creator then press L+R to flash your eeprom backup to turn your battery back to normal or press [_] (square) to generate a fake serial for it to work normaly if you don't have your eeprom backup..
:)

He says he's done that before "its the same menu as before, even after i chose to "run in normal mode" from the pandora menu."

His problem now is that his XMB is that his XMB looks white "ok, i got the system to boot, and i selected "back to normal mode" in the pandora menu. the regular psp menu screen (XMB i think its called) is like all white, whats this mean?"

So when he replies back or sends me a PM im gonna give him a guide to reflash a custom firmware (3.52 M33-4) Which i already have a premade update and have uploaded the file to sendspace...so it would be easier.

Mmmm i guess ill do it now

@johks

First go to your recovery menu and toggle USB.

Then download this file HERE

After download is done, Unzip the file and you'll have a folder named M33UPDATE_352 and another one called M33Update4.

After you've unzip this file go back to your psp memory through the USB.

And go to the PSP folder than into your GAME folder and create a folder named RECOVERY.

After done so, go into the folder named M33UPDATE_352 and open it.

Then take the eboot thats in there and put in the recovery folder that you've created in your GAME folder.

After that, take the folder named M33Update4 and put it on the folder named GAME150 that should be in your PSP folder.

Ok, after all that is over with.

Before you do this next step make sure that your battery is 75% or above....i guess you can check it on your slim psp.

Go back to the recovery menu and press run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP.

And fallow on screen instructions.

When the 3.52 M33 updater is done and your psp is back to normal go to the game menu on your XMB and run the M33 update which will update your psp to 3.52 M33-4.

Yup that could also be it.

That's happened to me before while on 3.52 M33.

Every time I installed a custom firmware the background would be white.

And you can barely see the icons right?

Is that what you're talking about..?

Oh yeah.....I remember this every time a restore default settings or format flash 1 and when I reboot I saw this white screen and when I goto theme I can fix it...

This is cause when your 01-12.bmp in vsh/resource is only one wallpaper not many colors... that's why when you restore default settings it will go to by month and January is the only month where your wallpaper is placed so if today isn't January it will display white....
TRy it...
