just bought a Sharp aquos. I plugged the hdmi cable into my ps3 and into my tv. and I get nothing. It works on the terminal D or whatever just fine. I go to Display settings, change it to HDMI and screen just goes back for a while then returns to normal....? what teh hell?

have look at your tvs manual, is it hdcp compliant?
if not then your tv wont receive the hdmi signal.
if your tv has got component cable input then use those

make sure you change your input on your tv to the hdmi and not the componet cables. In other words just change the channel of your input.

I connected my ps3 to my brother's HDMI and power cables and got no picture on his TV. But when he connected his ps3 to my HDMI and power cables it didnt work either. I'm totally confused

Did you unplug your Composite cables after you changed to HDMI,if you didnt try that.

Try unplugging all but hdmi cable and power cable, switch it off fully.
Turn it back on but hold down the power button on the ps3 until you hear and second beep.

tried everything, called Sony. They say my ps3 may be defected and can't output HD for some reason so i gotta send it in to get repaired, no charge, just a pain in the ass.
