hi all, i just bought this dvd player at walmart (memorex mwd7006) which claims to play divx files among other formats

it does play divx (xvid mores specifically) files, but the only thing is that it doesn't display correctly on my widescreen tv

the movies are encoded in 16:9 aspect ratio, i know because they play fine on my widescreen computer monitor, and in the correct aspect

but when i try to play the xvid files on the dvd player, the aspect ratio is all messed up and i have to set my tv aspect to 4:3 in order to avoid the picture from stretching

have any of you guys experienced this and is there a way to fix it? is this the case with all dvd/divx players?

i tried using mpeg4modifier and set the aspect ratio to 4:3 and 16:9, but both displayed wrong and stretched out, it did not remove the black widescreen bars

anyone?
