I came to this website with high hopes because I have spend neary 2 months on internet and burning DVDs and CDs in different ways. I bought a Wii earlier this year and thought to get it chipped by Wiikey. I called and sked the guy if he can do it and he said yes pretty much straight forward, I will do it infront of you 30 mins and £80.00.
Ok I went down there all the way from my place nearly 2 hour journey. He took 1 hour 30 mins and said just do some easy update and it should work. I came home but Wii did nto wrked with backups, tried everything went back to him in a week's time and the guy was rude. He first of all did not recognise me and then he said he will charge for update, he did some wirless update and said I should do another one by myself which is SMG update and he aint got time.
I came back tried some backup games, some of them worked, some did not. Failed ones were SVR2008, high school musical and SMG. I did not perform SMG update as I did not want to brick the Wii.
Now the Wii has gone back to normal Wii again, it does not recognise any backups or other region games, I went to that guy again and he was not there. I thought I better do it myself instead of wasting time by going all the way down there.
Kids wanted to play Wii at christmas but could not, as it was only playing originals. Some how it does not recognising the Wii key again. I am assuming, I should use a Wii key setup disc to turn on Wii key mode but I am failing to burn the setup disc. I have tried burning in different ways type of 28 DVDs and CDs to burn setup 1.2 and 1.3 and it does not work.
Some dude on Afterdawn forum said use Nero to burn it and the disc should be 1.3-1.5 gb but every time I burn it is 4.something gig. 1.2 burns on DVD and 1.3 opens as a CD burning image. I have tried :
* Burning 1.2 and 1.3 on speed 1x to 8x
* Burning 1.3 on a CD at different speeds
* Burning 1.3 on DVD at different speeds
* Burning 1.2 and 1.3 using Nero 7
* Burning 1.2 and 1.3 using Roxio 8
* Burning 1.2 and 1.3 using Power ISO
So far I have failed in all attempts
Kids have been waiting and watching my face and I hav tried not to frustate but I really am. I wish I would have never spend that money on Wii key and paid that dodgy guy for games and Wii key.
I will be grateful if some one can help me. Please guys either pm me or reply to this message and I will be most grateful to you. I am even willing to pay to some one who knows what they are doing and can update it for me in person up to SMG update. I will be equally thankful if some one can explain it to me here how to do it and I shall send something as a thanks. I need to know
* What to do after installing Wii key
* How to make setup discs and how many are they, how do they work
* How do we update the wii step by step
I wish if there was a full guide as there are on psp modifications like what to do step by step and what is required. I have been a computer nerd in past but I have no shame kneeling down in front of After Dawn experts. Please help me guys. I can also be online on msn or Yahoo and put the TV and Wii in front of me if some one is willing to help me step by step.

Information is really helpful. I will try to burn the setups disc on GCOS ( I am assuming, GCOS stands for Game Cube Original Settings i.e. 1.3gb - 1.5gb) I will burn them by the help of software provided in the link.
Can you tell me how to check the current firmware on Wii?
Also if the Wii goes back to first firmware, is that normal and are we supposed to turn the region capiblity with setup disc?
I am facing difficulty in creating the setup disc to check WiiKey options. Hope once its done, everything will be fine.

I have failed again, I cannot create a setup/config disc for Wii key. I have tried GCOS method and followed the steps in guide by selecting 1 game disc and it asked for iso to burn but after iso it asked for another nmc file which i changed it to iso again from properties. It then created a 12gb iso file.
Can someone please help me on burning sertup/config disc. I am about to smash either my wii or my pc???????????????
